MABO is providing an update regarding the ongoing challenges officials are experiencing when accessing Game Plan to write the exam. The slower performance and access issues are due to significantly increased traffic, as many officials are using the platform during this final week of the exam period causing it to crash at times.


The developer is doing as much as possible to improve the system’s efficiency and ensure it remains operational and running.


To accommodate these challenges, we will be extending the exam deadline to Tuesday, December 17, until 5 PM ET. Please note, this will be the final extension of the deadline. We hope this will help offset some traffic and allow officials to gain access to game plan.


Please do not email exam support to report that the website is down.  They are already aware of the delays and are addressing them as they arise. Instead, please direct them to use the support email for specific issues such as:

  • Lost passwords/username
  • Incorrect access to the NOCP exam level
  • Other technical exam-related concerns

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and frustration caused by these delays. Thank you for your patience and cooperation. Exam Support remains available to assist Monday to Friday, from 8 AM to 4 PM ET.

The 2024‐25 FIBA Rules Exam will be available for all officials registered with CBOC to take starting on Monday, November 4th at 12:00 PM (ET) and will close on Friday, December 6th 17th at 5:00 PM (ET).


Please note the exam closes indefinitely on Friday, December 6th 17th at 5:00PM (ET) and will not be extended.


EXAM SUPPORT

Exam support will be available during the exam period from 

Monday to Friday, 8am – 4pm (ET). Please contact cboc@basketball.ca


If you do not know your game plan login information, please DO NOT create a new game plan account. Instead, contact support for assistance with your login details. Creating a new account will not grant you access to the exam.


Please make sure to log into your Game Plan account before the exam window opens to confirm that you can access your account without any issues.

Dear MABO Member,

The CBOC Exam is available from Monday, October 24th, 2022, 11 am CDT (Manitoba time) until December 11th, 2022, at 10:59 pm CST (Manitoba time).

The exam for Prospect and Level 1 officials is 30 questions, as the other levels will be 50 questions.  You will have two hours to complete the exam, which is open book.

You can find the exam at https://gameplanbasketball.ca/ to log in.   


Click on the FIBA Exam tab (as shown above), and then select the exam level you are registered for.

If your Level is showing wrong please contact Darren Patkau at provincialinterpreter@maboref.com and your Assignors to get the level fixed.

If you were a MABO member, you would have access to Game Plan already, but if you are a new member or your level has changed, you will have to wait, as CBOC will have to add you and update your level.

MABO will be sending in an updated list of CBOC's on Monday evening every week for new people that registered that week.  As an active member of MABO, one of the requirements is to write the CBOC exam.

The FIBA Exam is now available to write and you have until December 13, 2021, to write the exam. It is recommended not to wait until the last minute to write the exam.

The exam is located on the Canada Basketball Game Plan website. MABO doesn’t administer this exam so if you have any issues with Game Plan or access to the exam please contact Riike with Canada Basketball at rolasina@basketball.ca. 

If you have signed up for a clinic by Nov 1, 2021, your information was sent to Canada Basketball so that you will have access to the exam.

REMINDER: The 2019 FIBA Rules Exam will be available for all officials to take starting on Wednesday, October 15th at 12pm (EST) and will close on Monday, December 16th at 11:59pm (EST).

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE FIBA EXAM
  • Prospect/NOCP 1 FIBA Exam consists of 30 questions
  • NOCP 2, 3, 4 & 5 FIBA Exam consists of 50 questions
  • All questions are either “Yes” or “No”
  • You have 2 hours to complete the exam
  • The exam is open-book

Once the exam is completed, you will be able to view your score immediately following your submission. An exam rewrite will be available on Game Plan if an official does not achieve their required mark on their first attempt.

The exam summary complete with the results, FIBA articles and interpretations will be visible on Game Plan on December 20th.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE:

  • Prospect officials will have access to the NOCP 1 FIBA Exam (30 questions)
  • NOCP 1 level officials will have access to both the NOCP 1 FIBA Exam (30 questions) and NOCP 2

FIBA Exam (50 questions).

  • You will ONLY be able to register for 1 of the 2 available exams. Once you register for one of the exams, you will not be able to access the other exam.

PASSING MARK
In the framework of the National Official Certification Program (NOCP), the passing marks are:

  • NOCP 1 = 21/30 (70%)
  • NOCP 2 = 40/50 (80%)
  • NOCP 3 = 43/50 (86%)
  • NOCP 4 = 43/50 (86%)
  • NOCP 5 = 43/50 (86%)

NOCP 2, 3 or 4 officials working towards advancing to the next NOCP level this year will still take their respective exams. If the results are at the standard for the NOCP Level they are working towards, the exam results can be submitted and used.

Officials will only be able to register for the exam which corresponds with their current NOCP level indicated in your profile. If your NOCP level is incorrect, please notify your local board and immediately to have your NOCP changed on Game Plan prior to taking the exam.

EXAM RE-WRITE
If you fail the exam on your first attempt, officials will have the option to complete a second exam
immediately after their first attempt. The rewrite will be available until December 19th.

NOTE: ONLY the 1st exam score will be considered for any officials being nominated for national
tournaments.

EXAM SUPPORT

ACCESSING THE EXAM ON GAMEPLAN
  1. Sign in to your Game Plan account at https://gameplanbasketball.ca/?set_member_type=official
  2. Select the “FIBA EXAM” tab
  3. Select the “Register” button next to the exam you will be taking
  4. In the coupon code field, enter: CABO2019
  5. After entering the code, click “Register with Credit Card” to begin the exam
  6. Complete the questions by selecting “Yes” “No” or “Skip”
  7. Once all the questions are answered, select the “Submit Exam” that appears
  8. Your final mark will show once you’ve submitted your exam.
HELP: HOW TO CREATE ACCOUNT IN GAMEPLAN

IMPORTANT: The GamePlan creation step is only for members that don’t yet have an account. If you completed the exam on GamePlan last year, you already have an account and should use their login details to access the exam. 

For officials that are not yet on Game Plan, you are responsible for registering for their own account. There is personal information that these people need to complete when registering for an account and hence we ask that they create their own accounts. Once an official creates a profile their account is set to the correct NOCP Level based on the membership lists that each province sends Canada Basketball.

DEADLINE TO WRITE THE EXAM IS DEC 10, 2018 - CABO has released details on the 2018 FIBA Exam that all MABO Senior officials are expected to complete to maintain their certification.  The exam window will be open November 30 and close on December 10, 2018.  Please see the instructions below for the instructions on how to take the FIBA exam on Game Plan:

Please create your account and wait 24 business hours to ensure you're taking the correct exam based on your NOCP Level. We are verifying every account.

We strongly advise if you have not made an account to make one now, even if you are not taking the exam until next week.

The 2018 FIBA Rules Exam will be available for all officials to take beginning November 30th at 12pm (EST) and will close on December 10th at 5pm (EST). 

The NOCP 1/Prospects FIBA Exam consists of 30 questions and the NOCP 2,3,4,5 exam consists of 50 questions. Officials will have 2 hours to complete the exam and are “Yes” or “No” questions.

Officials will only be able to register for the exam which corresponds with their current NOCP level as seen on ‘my profile’ and ‘my certification’ tabs. Except in the following situations:

  • Prospect officials will have access to take the NOCP 1 FIBA Exam 
  • NOCP Level 1 officials will have access to take the NOCP 1 FIBA Exam with 30 questions. If a Level 1 official would like to move to NOCP 2 this year, they also have access to take the NOCP 2 FIBA Exam with 50 questions. However, you can only take 1 of the 2 available exams. Once you start in one of the NOCP exams you will not be able to access the other exam.

NOCP 2,3,4 officials that are working towards advancing to the next NOCP level this year will still take their respective exams. If their results are at the standard for the NOCP level they are working towards (NOCP 3, 4, 5 = 86%) the exam results can be submitted and used. If I am NOCP level 2 and working on NOCP level 3 I will write the level 2 exam achieve 86% or higher and submit those results on the NOCP level 2 exam as I advance.

You will receive your exam results immediately after you submit your exam. The exam
summary complete with the review of the questions and results along with the FIBA articles and interpretations will be accessible on December 11th, 2018 on Game Plan.

Steps to Access the Exam

  1. Sign in to your Game Plan Account at https://gameplanbasketball.ca/?set_member_type=official
  2. Click the “FIBA Exam” tab
  3. Select “Register”
  4. An option to enter a Coupon Code will be displayed
  5. Enter: CABO2018 and click “Register with Credit Card” – this will bypass payment (Do not pay or enter your credit card information)
  6. Complete the questions by click “Yes” “No” or “Skip”
  7. Complete the questions by clicking “Yes” “No” or “Skip”
  8. Once all questions are answered, click “Submit Exam”
  9. Your final mark will show once you’ve submitted your exam.

REMINDER: If you have not yet completed the CABO Exam for 2016, please do so as soon as you can. The deadline is fast approaching. A reminder that there will be no support after 10am on December 20th. So, better to complete the exam before that so you don’t risk being unable to complete it.

CABO has decided to extend the exam period to finish on December 20th. It is still recommended that you complete it as early as possible as support on the last day will end at 10am EST. Follow the instructions on the website (they were also sent to each registered official) to access your profile and the exam.

We are a quarter of the way through the period of our 208 registered members only 15 members have completed the exam. If you choose to wait, you risk not being able to complete the exam.

IMPORTANT - CABO EXAM 2016 - MUST BE COMPLETED BETWEEN DECEMBER 1-20, 2016

In preparation for completing the 2016 CABO Exam, we have created a national database that contains current official information as well as the current exam. Please refer to the attached document to access your account, update your profile and complete the CABO Exam 2016.

You may complete this exam in French or English but only one or the other, not both. As in the past, exam is open book but must be written individually. If you have any issues, please send an e-mail to caboexams@gmail.com with details outlining your issue. This e-mail account will be checked twice per day, once in the morning, once at night.

Please write the exam early. The exam administrator is on vacation from Dec. 8 - 15 so support may be limited. On December 15th, support will only be available until 10am EST. After that, any issues with the exam will not be resolved. It is recommended you save your answers as you go along to ensure that any connectivity issues don’t result in loss of data.

The CABO online exam has been live for one week. To date, just under 10% of the membership has completed the exam. If you fail to complete the exam, you will not be able to officiate. The exam must be completed by midnight on December 15th. Please take the time to logon, using the information e-mailed to you from caboexams@gmail.com on November 27th.

The mandatory CABO Exam is now live. If you are registered and paid on the MABO website, you would have received an e-mail on Friday, November 27th from caboexams@gmail.com with your unique logon credentials and the link to access the exam. If you did not receive that email, please send an email to MABO Provincial Interpreter, Martha Bradbury at mbradbury@shaw.ca.

A reminder that the exam is open book and must be completed individually. As well, the exam must be completed by December 15th at 11:59pm local time. Please write the exam early as no support will be available after 10:00am local time on December 15th.

The 2014 CABO Exam results have now been sent out to all MABO members that completed the exam. The email came from caboexams@gmail.com.  Please check your Spam folder if you don't see it in your Inbox. You will need to click the link and the bottom of the email (it says "Download Detailed Report (PDF)") to see your detailed results.

If you did not achieve the minimum mark required for your NOCP level, please reach out to your local assignors to discuss next steps.  If you don't know your NOCP level, please reach out to Director of Evaluations, Jim Boyd (kenku1@shaw.ca), and he will provide it to you.

A reminder that anyone that completed the exam in a group will not be eligible for Provincial or National assignments.  Those member names will be communicated to the High School assignors later this week.

REMINDER: All MABO online registered and paid members received an e-mail from caboexams@gmail.com with login details for the 2014 CABO exam.  Please search for that e-mail address in your Inbox prior to reaching out to Martha Bradbury.  It may be in your 'spam' folder as well.  Also, a reminder that Martha is away from December 11 – 15th with limited computer access.  If you have an issue during that time, she will check e-mail once in the morning and once at night (PST), but won’t be available all day for support.

On December 15th, support ends at 10:00am CST as agreed to by the CABO Council.

PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO COMPLETE THE EXAM PRIOR TO DECEMBER 11TH TO ENSURE YOU GET SUPPORT IF YOU NEED IT.

MABO is offering current members that would benefit from having the 2014 CABO exam offered orally the opportunity to do that.  This will be offered only once on Thursday, November 27th at 6:30pm at Vincent Massey Collegiate, 975 Dowker Avenue.

The questions will be read, verbatim, to all attending members but no clarification on questions will be provided.  Participants will login using their credentials sent to them on or around November 12th and complete the exam online.  This will be a proctored exam and use of rulebooks is not permitted.

If you want to take advantage of this, please e-mail Provincial Interpreter, Martha Bradbury, at mbradbury@shaw.ca by November 25th.  Only pre-registered members that provided notification will be allowed to participate.  If no member responds, the session will be cancelled and all members will be expected to complete the exam online, on their own, by December 15th.

The Manitoba Association of Basketball Officials has once again aligned itself with the Canadian Association of Basketball Officials (CABO) for the mandatory writing of the FIBA National Exam.  The FIBA Exam will once again be administered ‘on-line’, and will be accessed through the CABO web site.
