UPDATED: 2019-2020 CBOC Basketball Rules National Points of Emphasis (POE)

Please see recently updated Points of Emphasis documents – English and French versions provided.  These documents should now be used over any previously sent documents.

The Canadian Basketball Officials Commission (CBOC) has recently established the National Points of Emphasis for the 2019/20 season.  Attached, you will find a comprehensive presentation (CBOC National Points of Emphasis 2019-2020) in PDF format that is being communicated to all national stakeholders.

The CBOC strongly believes that the POE’s from last season should remain a focus once again this season so that they become systematic and consistently applied across the nation.  However, you will note that a fourth POE – Unsportsmanlike Foul – has been added to this year’s presentation.  The addition was a result of feedback received from a number of resources across the country.

Therefore, the POE’s identified for the 2019-2020 season are:

    • ILLEGAL CONTACT (Dribbler, Off-Ball, Post Play)

CBOC has worked with CABO to ensure the message across the country is consistent for all coaches, officials, and players moving forward.  We trust that the attached information will serve as a great help in this regard.

The presentation can also be found as a PowerPoint Presentation within the CBOC EDUCATION LIBRARY on the Canada Basketball/CBOC website, which you all have access to.
