MEMORANDUM

TO: All Canadian Basketball Stakeholders
FROM: Cam Moskal, CABO National Interpreter

There have been a few inquiries from across the country lately regarding allowable ‘footwear’ under the current FIBA Rules. Specifically, the following footwear has been brought into question:

FIBA Article 4.4.3 states:

“During the game, a player may wear shoes of any colour combination, but the left and the right shoe must match. No flashing lights, reflective material or other adornments are permitted.”

Therefore, under the current FIBA Rules, the above pair of shoes or any footwear that does not match
shall not be permitted during competition within Canada and should be enforced at the USPORT and MCAC levels only.

Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Cam directly.
