The Manitoba Association of Basketball Officials is sad to share the news of one of its long-time members in the officiating community and the passing of Sheila Henderson.  Sheila was an important part of Portage Association of Basketball Officials (PABO) and the basketball community for over 20 years.

She was known in the PABO refereeing circles as "Auntie" because in real life she is Ryan Green's (Ryan has also been a MABO official for many years) real aunt.

In Portage la Prairie, the Green family has been an important part of the establishment and growth of basketball for a number of generations. Sheila played her high school basketball in Portage la Prairie and played university basketball at Brandon University. She then returned to PLP and taught, and remained involved in basketball in various roles. For the last 20 years, Sheila was an integral part of PABO and took all aspects of her officiating seriously and was a good official.

Those who were close to her wanted to let you know that officiating was a great part of her life. She was so grateful for her time on the floor, the growth of her officiating game, important evaluations, some provincial weekends, some big games she did, tons of laughs, and working with the entire basketball community. She says thank you to all of us.

Our condolences go out to the entire Green/Henderson family.
