Desktop vs Mobile view
The MABO, Basketball Manitoba and Manitoba Basketball Hall of Fame (MBHOF) websites have all been recently upgraded to be 'mobile friendly'.  Mobile friendly websites are defined by Google as...

  • Text must be readable without zooming in
  • Content should be re-sized to the screen so users don’t have to scroll horizontally or zoom
  • Links should be far enough apart so that the correct ones can be easily tapped
  • Website should avoid software that is not common on mobile devices, such as 'Flash'
All three websites will now load an appropriate view based on the type of device you are using to access the site.  All smartphones (iPhone, Android, Blackberry, Windows Phone, etc) will see the new mobile friendly layout.  All other devices (desktop, laptop, table, etc) should still load the original website view.

Mobile friendly sites also will load faster and consume less data as a traditional view website.  They are also 'touch friendly' allowing the user to easily swipe left or right on articles to quickly navigate to the next item.  All sites have a link at the bottom of all mobile pages to revert to the original 'web version'. Search engines are also starting to prioritize their search results, rewarding sites who are 'responsive' to the user's device.

Currently, over 25% of all traffic to these sites is coming from a mobile device.   Since relaunching these websites in October 2013, they have received a combined visitor rate of 1.1 million views (250,000 coming on a mobile device).  If you are reading this on a smart phone, you can check out the mobile version sites at...
